ChemPALS (Chemistry Peer-Assisted Learning Scheme) is a new, unique, peer support programme designed to help Chemistry students achieve academic success, build lifelong friendships, and career Inspiration!
We kickstarted ChemPALS in September 2023 and trialled the programme specifically for students within the School of Chemistry and had some levels of success.
For example, in semester 1, we have organised study groups and literature review groups. In semester 2, on top of study groups, we’ve organising regular drop-in sessions so you can ask questions to a peer, study on your own and get help from your lecturers! On top of that, we supported 40 students to attend site visits at 3 chemical companies within the UK and had great success!
For the new academic year, we have recruited a committee to support all the activities that ChemPALS does and you will hear all about them during Welcome Week!
ChemPALS is fully supported by staff at the School of Chemistry and has regular contact with industrial partners. We are currently working hard to seek opportunities to collaborate with chemical companies to roll out a range of activities and projects and you will hear from us more about it when the time comes!
